Gather Ye Rosebuds…Good Times Are Still Coming For You!
Birthdays can be blessings or curses: choose blessings because you could be dead! On Saturday I when hear 76 trombones, and I will continue to March and Sing!
None of us can stop time. My big birthday is tomorrow, and I’m missing family and friends who have passed. I’ve been fortunate!
I did this Substack for myself and anyone feeling old and down. I’m happy to be alive and walking, even dancing and singing in the shower. I hope this brightens your day!
I listened to Sophia Loren’s Interview with husband Carlos Ponti’s son, and her beauty and grace at an advanced age reminded me that beautiful souls don’t always have interviews. She was an inspiration to me and my husband who found the interview. I guess authentic is the word I would use to describe her honest, unvarnished detailed answers about her life. If you are feeling blue about your next birthday, watch the video.
Then I listened to the song “Forever Young” by Rod Stewart on my walk, and I realized I was walking with more of spring in my steps. Music does that. So, if you are feeling blue about your upcoming birthday, play some music!
I also can never hear or see the Amsterdam concert of “Proud Mary” by the irreplaceable Tina Turner without wanting to sing or dance along. Her stage talent and sexy energy are inspiring to me with three joint replacements. But I can still move to good music! Why not dance along with Tina if you’re feeling blue about aging?
Last, I guess I identify with this song because I have outlived my family and many of my chums. “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John will build up your courage and love for life like nothing else.
And my youthful humor returns with the Beatles “When I’m 64”
The list could go on. Here’s one you may not know, but America needs to hear it: “Celebration” by David Mallett from Maine. I love the content and the catchy music.
If you have special “feel good” songs, please note them in the comments. Music is medicine for our politically weary souls. Stop, listen, and do no labor this Labor Day weekend. I’ll be eating my birthday cake with wine!
I just turned 77 last month and I sang the song 77 sunset strip in my head
Awesome song thanks for sharing
