I Am An American
Some say immigrants are the most loyal Americans of all because they have left all behind at great cost. America has prided itself on being the melting pot of many nationalities and ethnic groups.
On this Independence Day, we must remember that we have always been a melting pot welcoming peoples from all countries to become Americans and help us build America, escape from persecution in authoritarian countries where they were threatened by terrible violence. We are who we are because those brave souls have studied books like the one above to become citizens. I salute every one who has made this country productive and welcoming.
A bigger question today is why do walls have to keep out people seeking asylum from violence, and why is the Republican convicted felon Donald Trump trying to isolate Americans? As poet Robert Frost said, “Something there is that does not love a wall.” I would answer that only the extremely wealthy and the extremely poor fear “others” interfering with their lives.
No one owns America. No one owns anyone in America in 2024 though Trump and his election denier Republicans want to own low information voters and our natural resources to make profits. The fossil fuel industry barons are driving our environmental health to the limits because they do not believe in global warming. Dinosaurs.
Let us study our civics, our Constitution, and keep America free of Trump ‘s machinations in association with mafia-like Republicans on the right and all of the power-hungry lying politicians eager to get their rewards. Grab your soapbox and stand on the corner across American and shout it out loud and clear like Paul Revere! “The Trumps are coming! The Trumps are coming!” There are more wonderful Americans who refuse to let that happen.
We will stop them at the ballot box in November and continue to vote out the election deniers until we have politicians who love and work for all of us, not just King Trump. He will fall like Humpty Dumpty off the wall he didn’t build.
I have a vivid image from “The Wizard of Oz” of the wicked witch who collapses into a green puddle, I dream that Felon Trump Humpty Dumpty will crash like a rotten yellow egg —and orange slime will be all that’s left of him. It’s time he had his comeuppance at the ballot box if the courts can work faster and end this blight on Democracy. .
I am an embarrassed American whose friends abroad are worried for America. We must elect a Democrat—my pick is still Joe Biden unless he suggests someone else. I will vote Blue💙🇺🇸💙down the ticket with Joe and Kamala and stop listening to the age overkill by the media which no longer speaks for the American People. Let’s get fired up!
Sadly it is not just the wealthy barons who reject the immigrants. It is more those citizens (many of us
part of the 140,000.000 poor and low income) who have been manipulated into fearing others, mistakenly believing this country has not enough GOOD jobs and free educational opportunity to go around.
Yes, amazing! They fool us that way here in the richest country IN THE WORLD.
It is how the political folk control "winning." And the only way to finally turn that around-- that plan dating back to Reagan's election when the Republican party needed the historically Southern Democrats' votes to win--is to join THE SWING VOTE at the polls.

Typically poor people and our youth have not been voting because none of our lawmakers are listening to their needs. Bring them to the polls and truly SWING the next elections.

I've been so busy sending notes to pundits who call for Biden to step away from the candidacy (from our nomination, from our votes in the primary) that I should make a moment to send a note to those who are still in here stating the obvious - it's overkill, and what they're really killing is our chance to save democracy... except we won't let them.
