Liza Donnelly’s Art Is Medicine to the Soul
I’m over the moon that one of my favorite cartoonists did a dog drawing as a reward for recommending her fantastic stack “Seeing Things.” Liza, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I joined Substack last summer. Soon I realized there were some truly gifted, creative, kind writers, poets, artists who brought such joy in a world stressed about losing our Democracy if Trump gets elected. So, Liza Donnelly is one who brings me joyful art with insightful stories. I do recommend Liza’s gentle style of art medicine. We need her!
Now, yesterday Liza won my heart by sending me a lovely shaggy dog drawing just for recommending her stack over time. It’s a gracious act. I have a pretty shaggy gray and white bearded collie, and here it is with the “Donnelly” touch! Paddy is my fur baby’s name.
Thank you
💙🥇💙Liza covered the Freedom Forum in Oslo, one of my favorite places. Her range is amazing. Her fingers had to be tired after drawing so many speakers!
In case you didn’t know, Liza also covered some of the NY Trump trial marvelously—her political observations are on target, but what I like especially is that she is never crude or obscene like some political cartoonists. Liza has brains and style.f
You’re very deserving of that fabulous gift, Diane. And I, too, am in awe of Liza’s incredible talent. Her work graced the Last Word page of the Summer 2024 issue of Ms. Magazine. We’re all in this saving democracy fight together.
Awww! Frame it and keep it forever!
