Missing Paddy
July 17th was a bad day. We lost our bearded collie age 11 1/2, and I can’t write about him just yet. I want to share some photos, but I also want to thank new pro-Democracy, pro-Kamala subscribers!
Before I share photos, I want to share the sweetest gift from
—a sketch of my fluffy guy which makes me smile. Thank you, dear Liza!Keep in mind that Paddy’s flowing hair was kept shorter in a puppy cut for his comfort and ease of grooming. Liza captured his happy face and ears perfectly! I need to pick up my pencils!
The photos here are all I can share as a diversion for the weekend. Politics have kept my mind distracted from grieving a little bit. We are looking for a pup though we think we might to be too old. We are young at heart, and hopefully one of the granddaughters will inherit a dog if we can no longer care for it. We have to be realistic after all.
Thanks for your kind words after Paddy passed on the 17th. You are the best community ever!
Let’s rest up but stay focused on the fight larger than us. We must win in November, and I believe we can keep the momentum. We must steel ourselves for the slings and arrows that Kamala will have to fight off—and we must be as gracious and witty as she is. I’m so happy we have her!
Thank you! Wish me luck on finding a pup by September so I can cuddle with him on November 5th! Vote Blue!💙🇺🇸💙
Beautiful photo filled with love. 💙💙💙
Beautiful photos. I am so sorry for your loss.
Too old? Too old to deal with puppy bullshit? Most breeds are 2-3 years old before they turn into responsible citizens. Take classes and socialize the heck out of them snd don’t fall into the trap of not telling them to knock it off when they behave badly and you’ll be okay.
Or too old as in you might go before they do? None of us know when our time is. Any responsible owner should have a plan in place for their animals, whether that is a friend or a relative or a rescue of some sort. My daughter teaches a class for therapy dogs and their handlers, mostly retired women. A few years ago one of the ladies died. My daughter took her three dogs (little lap dogs that between them barely made up one dog) and two rabbits. She still has the rabbits, but the owner had made arrangements with Best Friends for lifetime care for the dogs.
If you are of an age where it might be a concern, a responsible breeder might ask what your plans are if you can no longer care for the dog. They aren’t being snoopy or rude, just concerned for the puppy or dog they are placing. Most responsible breeders have a contract that requires
