Roll Up Your Sleeves! Smile & Laugh with Kamala and Joe at Election Deniers! Vote Blue!
It occurred to me that smiles are contagious to Democrats while Trump’s smirks, hate speech, and slander are contagious to the extreme right. Let's work & smile as we work hard for Kamala Harris!
It’s a week up ups and downs for me since we are in recovery over losing our beloved 11 1/2 year old bearded collie Paddy. Our lives are upside down as we try to look for another cuddle buddy. However, one thing has made my heart feel better, and that is that Joe Biden is now more self-sacrificing hero, and his support for Kamala Harris made my day.
Here are a few reflections as I sit looking at dog photos. Only animal lovers will understand. We need politicians as honest and loyal to their constituency as devoted dogs are to their loving owners. Dogs aren’t like fickle politicians riding the fence: dogs are there in the sunshine and the bad weather days especially. Dogs unlike uninformed voters see through a visitor’s behavior: dogs instinctively sense danger, fear of dogs, and love of dogs.
Simple rule. Dogs love dog lovers. As I walk around the neighborhood without the dog these last few months, I’m a dog magnet because they know I have a dog and love them. It’s the smile and tone of voice I think. People aren’t as smart as dogs in that sense because they aren’t talking to their own dogs on walks these days! New owners look at their phones and totally do not even interact with their dogs. They take duty walks. How can it be love when your owner doesn’t share his thoughts with you? Humbug!
Do, what’s this have to do with the next 100 days? Be people friendly and interact with eye contact, listen to their thoughts, and engage politically with smiles and honey—not smirks, frowns, vinegar. We all know people in both political parties who are not particularly easy to convince. Avoid them and go to mothers, fathers, college students, shut-ins, blue collar workers and small business owners to make your cases that Trump is a loser and his Project 2025 will hurt them and our country. Know your facts!
We can do this and we can do it in the Biden-Harris style. Democrats care about Democracy. The independents and moderate Republicans should be relieved that convicted felon Trump must be stopped from contaminating all facets of American life. The first Thanksgiving and Christmas after the 2016 election was so depressing for Democrats. We need to win to lift women up, to life people of color up, to lift the children of poverty up, and to lift American spirits up instead of smearing our history.
Last, we know that some people are “one issue voters” who cannot see the broader threats we are facing from the extreme right and left. For example, if all a voters talks about is abortion, they forget environmental threats—and vice versa. If people from one geographical area care only about fossil fuels, they don’t read up on other topics. You know what I mean?
It’s up to Democrats to address larger threats before overwhelming low information voters. Gosh, because we care so much about many issues on Substack alone, it’s overwhelming for intelligent people who actually try to keep up. Too many just give up because they aren’t subscribed to great substacks.
Last, pick your battle and fight that one. Use the information provided by
and on ACTION and ENGAGE in so many ways. I don’t have much money, but I’m willing to give the gift of sweat and time! Find your niche ASAP and get going! Take breaks away from social media except to monitor what the red party is up to—call them out literally. By phone, by media, by letters, by signs, by music, by poetry, by art—whatever makes you happy to do! As HCR and JV say: We the People have the power to change history and save Democrscy, reform the courts, and sleep at night because we did our best!Vote Blue💙🇺🇸💙 Let’s rock and roll! 💙
Go, Kamala! We have your back! 💙🇺🇸💙
Diane, you are so right about the magnetism between dogs snd dog lovers. And I love your suggestion of using positivity and kindness as we navigate among the naysayers. It’s perhaps a variation on “the best revenge is a life well lived.”
Diane K24: I love the analogy:
"Dogs love dog lovers. As I walk around the neighborhood without the dog these last few months, I’m a dog magnet because they know I have a dog and love them. It’s the smile and tone of voice I think."
Very practical recipes for success for November 5th.
Thank you for sharing!
