I am overwhelmed by the subscribers who read my Blue Notes! Welcome to a kind, intelligent, well-read community of poets, writers, and lovers of nature. Let’s keep cheering each other on!
Technically, I began this substack in July 2023 not to write but to read my favorite writers. I never intended to have subscribers or followers until Notes came. The latter I like but hate because it brings too many great writers to keep up with. I rather wish Notes was a separate entity from Substack to avoid trollers and the overload.
If you aren’t concerned about the US Presidential Election in 2024, you might wish to unsubscribe. I understand. I post a variety of non-political articles, but my pro-Democracy articles are in my heart. I’ve been thinking about creating 2 sections, and I’d like to know what you think in the comment section.

Substack shouldn’t be a hassle. Please continue your work for the common good in whichever way pleases you. If someone gets offended along the way, don’t make their hangups your problem.

As a 75-year-old (soon 76!) man, it appalls to see rhetoric of Jim-Crow, the Dictatorship of Huey Long and his militia that FDR had identified as one of the greatest dangers in America, now echoed in "Proud Boys" and "Oath Keepers" -- "white" Nationalists who have been sentenced to the longest terms in the January 6th collective crime.
The GOP echoes rhetoric of Lester Maddox, George Wallace, and Ross Barnett.
Even the most moderate Nikki Haley has to cow to the racist base and evade a simple question about the Civil War and the next day blame "gotcha" Democrats?!
Diane, with the Blue Note, please keep the messages coming.
