The Art of Distraction
When the R-turkeys get us down, our dog Paddy is the welcomed Great Distraction. He has the art of distraction mastered, never failing to get us to focus on selfless LOVE.
Everyone needs a distraction from the world’s constant bombardment of news. My daily distraction is a furry, 70 pound bearded collie boy with a puppy cut though he will turn 11 on December 23rd.
Throughout his life, all he has ever asked for (other than food and playtime) is to be petted, loved, cuddled, and included in everything we do. That’s why he listens to every word and watches every signal. We tried spelling out certain words like “cookie” or “ice cream” to no avail! He knows even when we are using sign language or simply mouthing the words.
Paddy’s favorite word other than “walk” is “coffee” because he knows there’s a cookie or sweet coming with it. What can I say? He takes after me! I hope you have a distraction to get you through 2024 too.
