Vertigo Poles
Nordic walking poles work for hikers, but they also work for anyone like me with balance issues. In fact they are used in rehabilitation centers. I’m giving them a try upon delivery!
My subscribers may remember that a week or so ago, I fell flat on my face on my patio with no warning upon arriving home from a long walk. The patio concrete was not kind. The good news is I didn’t break my nose or any body parts. My nose however is last to heal.
I walk daily for mental health and escape from news. My wounds are healing, but I had to come up with a safety plan to continue my daily walks to prevent from scaring my husband to death. Seeing my bloody face was too much for him. So, I came up with a plan and he’s comfortable with it.

The poles help seniors maintain balance, especially on uneven terrain, and can enhance confidence while walking. Reduced joint stress: The poles used in Nordic walking help distribute weight and impact of walking across the whole body, reducing stress on the joints, particularly the knees and hips.
I’ll let you know once my poles arrive, and I take my daily walk. If you use walking poles, do comment!
Diane K24: Walking with a staff is common, I think, in woodland paths in Germany and Switzerland, so you are in good company.
Walking, I think, is the main thing. You have built a community that harmonizes with each other and we are blessed with what you share and reciprocate from the heart with friendship in the Substack community.
An added benefit of using poles is not as much pressure on our knees! Continue to heal as we need you!!
