Welcome to Diane’s Blue Notes, new subscribers and followers! Thank you!
We need to stay sane together in this world of war, political chaos, and sheer ignorance of history past and current events. If you’re overwhelmed by options on Substack, keep it simple.
It’s Saturday morning, and the rain is pouring down. I’m sitting here with coffee and my dog who is drying out under a bath towel. My husband is in bed, but I can never sleep late. My brain starts working too early.
Two cups of coffee, some favorite Substacks read, and I’m feeling better and thankful I have followed these writers for a long time. My read next list is getting too long, but winter is coming!
Right now I’m enthralled re-reading Heather Cox Richardson’s new book about Democracy. It’s worth many readings if you follow her here or participate on her Facebook videos. I tell you this because if you’re an American who cares about your country’s future, learn about it before it’s too late.
I believe in simplicity to avoid insanity in these troubled political times. That means stay close to writers who know the truth and are brave enough to step away from the ugly crowds of hate-mongers. In Substack I try to do the same. Beware burnout from trying to keep up with all of the world’s woes. Be kind to yourself—think of what makes you happy.
I’m not the kind of person who recommends anyone or anything lightly to get brownie points. As a retired teacher, I see so many writers on Substack pushing all the brownie point buttons. This Substack is free, and I hope you’ll leave me if you dislike my posts. I’m 109% pro-Democracy, anti-hypocrisy, and lover of good-hearted people who want to make the world better, not worse.
I’m an art lover, book lover, dog lover, and music lover. Later, Friends, and thanks for sharing your time with me. As my favorite Joyce Vance says, “We are all in this together”—so be safe!
Yes, you, Heather and Joyce are good comfort on Rainey or sunny days🇱🇷
