They say the best compliment is an unexpected one. A landscaper returned my call promptly (rare) for a free estimate to build a wall along the driveway. Then.
I would consider any comparison to Dolly to be an enormous compliment, Diane. And your advice about finding good things to say to others is certainly on target.
I'm going to miss your heartfelt writing as I take a six-month medical R&R from Substack. Just hope I don't go into withdrawal.😏
The Hammond: Please, accept our heartfelt wishes for the best of medical care, a pleasant and sound rehabilitation, and improvement of your health for the long term.
Oh that’s so good to remember, how acknowledging the good things in others is so important!! I was trying to remember a random compliment anyone gave me… I don’t have any recent memories of one 🧐, maybe because we’re kind-of isolated out in the countryside, but one I remember is years ago my mother saying “I’ve never heard Karen say anything unkind to anyone”. Then she would add, with a laugh, “except to me!” (we did have our mother daughter heated discussions!🤦♀️) But that compliment from my mother stays with me.
Hijacking and rude! These are the ones I block! I think it’s a sweet compliment and if it made your dsy, that’s what natters! Thanks for pointing out how easy and kind it is to offer compliments to others. I like how specific he was…after being prompt and professional. Sounds like a well bred guy! 😊
Lovely story!
Thanks,Gloria!
Now I’m going to read your column 🥰with Dolly Parton‘s voice in my mind.
🤣
Rita Manguso: Isn't THAT the case. Now I read her column with the earworm of Dolly Parton at song.
🤣Trust me—I don’t sound like Dolly🤣

Thank you very much, Armand. I hope to return ready to start writing my own stack.
I will miss you, and I hope you’ll be better refreshed and healthier!
She can sing and write some pretty amazing songs. You also have names that start with the same letter!

He might be in for a shock Monday 🤣
This doesn’t have anything to do with the subject….
Odd juxtaposition but thank you for the link. I followed earlier this morning but then took a long break. Good to get the latest.
