My Pro-Democracy Bright Lights
For new subscribers, I’m sharing my favorite pro-Democracy substacks. Starred* are my 2 trusted & beloved stackers who attracted me to Substack. It took a year to curate my feed.
Obviously, this list isn’t complete, but honestly how much time does anyone want to read politics? I try to keep up, and these people are my soul medicine because they know what a serious situation American is in. They proclaim the truth about extremists, election deniers, underhanded politicians trying to take over the courts, schools, and DOJ.
I’m a retired teacher with respect for those doing the work for voters —if we can get people to want to be informed. I get depressed because I see people who have no clue about the law, the people running for office—and they don’t want to know. They prefer amusement, scandal, reality shows, and fluff social media which offsets boredom.
There must be something to light a fire 🔥 under their seats to vote for people who are not convicted felons. We must not let Trump and his Project 2025 destroy democracy.
Even if you don’t subscribe to these fine minds, follow their work. I make my Substack free so you can pay for the real heroes, the experts, the bravest pro-democracy fighters. VOTE BLUE! 💙🇺🇸💙
Thank you, dear readers!
Feel free to comment or add your go-to sources of inspiration. I apologize now if I left out your stack. Peace to all!

Random order from my poor brain to you!

Great list! Read most of them already. Anticipating the day I will have some novel idea that will gain traction and more subscribers so I can manage full on newsletter. Play with restacks, notes, comments and messages but my 76 year old brain a little in the woods with the absence of tech savvy enough for full on newsletter; my last big aspiration on this planet. Really hoping to look more at plastic pollution and fashion sustainability.
Diane K24: Wonderful sources, to which I would add an expert on international affairs, a distinguished professor at the Tufts Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Daniel W. Drezner, here:

I agree with your asterisks, meaning the best, the essential, for Joyce Vance -- "We are in this together" and for Heather Cox Richardson.
