Be Real, Be Loved, and Become! If you feel old and raggedy, read this book to yourself and find a child to share it with. They will remember it forever!
Thank you Diane K24! A lot of other books were read to my brother and I, though not The Velveteen Rabbit. Now approaching 75 I’ve become a bit shabby. No eyes have fallen out, though each has a new lens! Complaining joints a-many. Titanium plates and screws in my lower spine…
Were that available to the beloved Velveteen Rabbit, I fear it would never have become real!
Some years ago I had the pleasure of working for a centenarian. She’d observe, “Growing old is not for sissies.” She still had “magical vision” that could spot tiny imperfections from a great distance. Once the work required rental of a machine on tires with a very long telescoping boom, to support work on high windows and avoid roof damage. Nothing would do but for Mary Call to accompany the painter, in the “bucket” on the end of the boom. She would not take “no” for an answer. The reason for her insistence? She wanted to see the grounds from a new vantage point. Indomitable spirit comes to mind. May your creaky joints in no way stand in your path!
Once you are real, once you are loved…you can not be ugly or worn. One of my favorite kids’ books! I used to tease about growing shabby and loose joints…more like tight joints! Thanks for sharing this beautiful story…hope the young moms read this! 🩷😊

I love your last point! I have 3 joint replacements! Arthritis is so much fun during these up and down temps!

Love that story!
Perfect choice!
As a career second grade teacher, the Velveteen Rabbit was always one of my favorites to share and discuss with my students❣️
Love that book SO much❣️
I loved this book but it traumatized my daughter! So much so she warned me to never buy it, read it, mention it to her little ones.
Oh, dear!
She was heartbroken at the ending.
Thank you, Diane, for a reminder of all the good stuff for a change.
We must look at all of the things that made us happy then and now for our 2024 mental health💕
And as I was watching the video, my daughter FaceTimed me with 7 month old grandbaby who waved at his Granny! Almost as good as reading to him.
Love this book & have read it to my children & my 10 grandchildren. ❤️
Wonderful!
