I am so encouraged by what you're saying. I just got referred to an ophthalmologist yesterday to have both my lenses replaced. How long after you did the first did you do the second? I can't wait to be able to see really well again!!! I'm an academic book editor and publisher by trade and this is SUPER important for me!!
You will be blown away by the results! I had one surgery last Monday and the second 2 days ago! I’ll wear a night shield 7 days. The brightness and the color range is unbelievable. Morgan. The surgery takes 10 minutes. The registration, vitals, prep take longer. I was there from 9am to 10:15ish. I was having breakfast home at 10:30. No after effects from a minimal twilight drug. it was a breeze. I had no idea my vision had been so bad since last summer. You’ll love the results. Follow directions to a T😎
Thank you so much for answering--and thank you for this support. I really need this to go quickly as I'm moving soon and also publishing a book for a former professor who is now 91. Neither of us can wait to see it finished. So the time pressure is pretty immense, and I'm happy to think I can get through this in two-three weeks as I really need to. ... When I was 19, my beloved old grandmother, who was a tailor and used to make men's three-piece suits with keyfobs, complete with shirts AND ties (!) AND women's beaded evening gowns and wedding dresses could no longer see. My father, chauvinist that he was (as he was raised to be) forbade her to have lens replacements because she was 77. I went to WAR with this man about it, and together, she and I won. She had the surgery and lived another 10 years, doing needlework every day. She was SO HAPPY. Also, there's evidence now that when older people start losing hearing and sight, dementia starts to move in fast because they stop driving and reading and can't hear the TV and radio -- and conversations. They are effectively shut off from their friends and families and the world. And now you and I won't have to suffer that fate. Those aren't the only reasons for dementia, but they have, apparently, a fairly serious effect. THANK YOU for your support. I have been a bit scared, and I feel so much better the more I hear from people like you just raving about how wonderful this is. I'm so happy for you!
Morgan, my husband had his cataracts removed in 2018–and my surgeries were totally different than his. It was a month before he was done with surgeries and endless eye drops out of 2 bottles. I just had 3-4 drops x 3 pre-surgery. Antibiotic and numbing. That was it. I’m now able do use regular drops upon need for any seasonal dry eye issues.
I am having my done in Marin County at a state-of-the-art clinic by a brilliant ophthalmologist who's done thousands of them. So I should have really excellent care. I'm excited now! WOW!!
Don’t laugh. I turned off the living room lights because it was too bright lol. It’s darn amazing. Plus the prettiest color of all is blue—💙! I took that as a sign that 2024 will be a 💙 year! I’m very serious.
I'm bouyed by your beautiful post, clear, bright vision and a very good post-op day after surgery. Take care and follow your doctor's instructions and be patient for better results every day or two!
Thanks. Mark! My doctor told me something interesting—young people (not me haha) are also having cataract surgery. I’m wondering if it’s environmental or cultural with too many hours outdoors or on computers! I always thought cataracts for for retired people. Go figure!
Now the part I didn’t mention in my several pre-surgery comments to your posts. Because of the need to be awake and move your eyeball during cataract surgery, the feeling, pressure and the very blurred blunt image of the surgical tools in my eye has made it impossible for me to watch any sci-fi movie with an alien abduction scene where the aliens are poking and investigating inside the abducted human. Sinus surgery decades ago similar.
Oh, my. Glad I didn’t think of aliens🤣 Honestly they have improved techniques SO much that I had no discomfort. 10 minutes. Mild twilight. Head with band keeping it in place didn’t bother me. No after pain!
Washington’s Birthday I’ll have my first eye done. Your visual acuity encourages me. Been waiting too long. Toughest when you can’t see a street sign to know where your taxi driver is taking you.
“I Can See Clearly Now”
I don’t know why the didn’t click immediately when I read your post earlier.
Both the original Johnny Nash (1972) and the Jimmy Cliff (1993) versions are one of my favorites.
Congratulations!
Thanks, Linda!

Sounds so much better now than fifteen years ago. If I ever grow a third eye and then need surgery on that one, it’s a good thing to remember. 😉
Happy for you! Keep enjoying! 🎉👍☀️😎
Thanks, Joan!💙
Life just got much better! Hurrah!
Truly, Bruce!
Diane K-24: CONGRATULATIONS!
That is the result I expected, and I share your delight at the miracle and beauty that is clear sight.
You stay healthy with your loved ones, each caring for the other, and God bless you!
Thanks, Armand! It’s truly amazing! I can see so much better. I wore sunglasses today and drove to the store! I would never have guessed!
Hooray! That's great news!, Diane!
Thanks. Kay! I even drove today wearing dark sunglasses!🕶️

You’ll be so happy! It’s amazing how bad my eyes had gotten!
